After May’s meet-up was sadly cancelled due to a thunderstorm on the day of the ride, we were thrilled to have great weather and wonderful turn-out for June’s ride. We had a large group and lots of enthusiastic kids and the perfect sunny morning that wasn’t too hot as we set out.
As usual, we met up at Brookside Park, where the kids got a chance to play while we waited for all the riders to arrive. There were several new faces this time around – always a welcome thing! Once everyone assembled, we set off through Brookside and up 13th and then back through the Brookside neighborhood leading eventually into the Old Town.
For June’s ride, we also had a pictorial scavenger hunt for the kids. They were asked to find at least ten of the thirty images depicted on the sheet (things like a bench, a lady bug, a pair of eye glasses, the letter “A,” etc). The kids seemed to really like the challenge and even the littler ones who couldn’t quite participate enjoyed looking at the pictures. As a prize for playing, they all got little bike stickers found on Etsy.
Our destination for June’s ride was the downtown Main Street farmer’s market. Once there, everyone parted ways and perused the stands on their own. It was the perfect destination to a great ride, complete with more activities for kids and refreshments for everyone who worked up an appetite biking over.
If you’d like to join us for a bike ride, come to Brookside Park every last Saturday of the month at 10am! We’d love to see you there! Participation is free and everyone is welcome!
